Bobby alternative

A Bobby alternative that works on Android, Windows, and any browser

Recura is a free subscription tracker that runs in your browser. You list what you pay for and it shows your monthly and yearly totals, the next renewal date for each service, and reminders in the days before you're charged. There's nothing to install, no account, and no limit on how many subscriptions you track.

In short: Bobby is a polished native app for iPhone and Mac with iCloud sync, and if you live in Apple's world it's hard to beat. But it's no longer on Google Play, and it doesn't run on Windows or in a browser. Recura runs anywhere a browser does, is free with no limits, and adds optional AI help. What it doesn't do is sync between your devices.

Why people look for a Bobby alternative

  • You're not on an iPhone. Bobby's current App Store listing covers iPhone, Macs with Apple silicon, and Apple Vision Pro. Its Google Play listing is no longer available, and there's no Windows or web version.
  • The free version has limits. Bobby is free to download, with in-app purchases from $0.99 to $2.99 that unlock its subscription and category limits and add extra packs. They're small amounts, but you'll meet a cap before you pay.
  • You want it in Thai. Bobby's listing shows nine languages — English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Thai isn't one of them.
  • You want help deciding what to cut. Bobby is built to show you what you pay. If you'd also like a second opinion on what to cancel, that's a different kind of tool.

How they compare in practice

Where you can use it

This is the main reason to pick one over the other. Bobby is a native Apple app, so on an iPhone it looks and feels the way an iPhone app should, and iCloud keeps it the same on your Mac. Recura is a web app: it runs in Chrome on an Android phone, Edge on a Windows laptop, or Safari on an iPhone, without installing anything. The trade-off is that it's a website, not an app on your home screen, and it keeps your list in one browser rather than syncing it.

Price and limits

Both cost nothing to start. Bobby's free version caps how many subscriptions and categories you can add, and one-off purchases between $0.99 and $2.99 remove the caps and add security and visual packs. Recura has no caps and nothing to buy. The money is small either way — the real difference is whether you'll hit a wall partway through entering your list.

Getting your subscriptions in

Neither app reads your bank, so you add subscriptions yourself in both. Recura has one shortcut: AI Invoice reads a pasted receipt or billing email and fills in the name, price, currency, cycle, and renewal date for you to check. It uses an AI provider you connect with your own API key — OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, OpenRouter, or a local model — and it's entirely optional.

Language and currency

Recura works in Thai and English and converts THB, USD, EUR, and JPY to one total at live rates — handy if you pay Netflix in baht and ChatGPT in dollars. Bobby supports more languages and multiple currencies with rates updated daily, but not Thai. If you pay in a currency other than those four, Bobby is likely the better fit.

Which one should you use?

Choose Bobby if…

  • You use an iPhone or Mac and want a native app
  • You want your list synced across Apple devices through iCloud
  • You pay in a currency other than THB, USD, EUR, or JPY
  • You'd rather use an app with years of reviews behind it

Choose Recura if…

  • You're on Android, Windows, or switch between platforms
  • You want the app in Thai
  • You want no limits and nothing to buy
  • You'd like optional AI help reading receipts and deciding what to cut

Moving from Bobby to Recura

There's no direct import, but the move is short:

  1. Open Bobby and keep your subscription list next to you.
  2. Open Recura and add each one — name, price, currency, and renewal day. Or paste renewal emails into AI Invoice to fill in several at once.
  3. Turn on renewal notifications in Settings so you're reminded before each one charges.
  4. Export a JSON backup from Settings. It's your copy of the data, and how you move it to another device.
